NHT Mortgage Rate Stays at 2% for First-Time Buyers

The NHT board confirmed no rate change for open-market mortgages in 2026. Income ceilings for joint applications also remain unchanged.

The National Housing Trust (NHT) board has confirmed that the mortgage interest rate for first-time buyers will remain at 2% for the 2026 calendar year. The rate applies to open-market mortgages up to J$7.5 million.

Income ceilings for joint applications also remain unchanged. Couples applying jointly may qualify for larger loan amounts.

NHT mortgages are available to contributors who have made at least 52 weekly contributions within the last 3 years. Applications can be submitted through the NHT portal at www.nht.gov.jm.
