Terms of Service

These Terms of Service explain the rules that apply when you access or use OurJa, including our news, guides, calculators, interactive tools, email features, advertisements, and related services.

Last updated: May 3, 2026

Important Notice

OurJa provides general information and self-help tools. We are not a government agency, law firm, accounting firm, financial adviser, immigration adviser, medical provider, lender, or insurance provider. Nothing on the site is professional advice. Always confirm important decisions with the relevant agency, institution, or qualified professional.

1. Acceptance of These Terms

By accessing, browsing, using, subscribing to, or interacting with OurJa, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

You must be old enough to form a binding agreement in your jurisdiction, or you must use the site with the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. If you use the site on behalf of a business, organization, or other entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2. Changes to the Site or Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date shows when the Terms were last materially updated. Your continued use of the site after updated Terms are posted means you accept the updated Terms. We may modify, suspend, discontinue, or restrict any part of the site at any time, including tools, articles, features, advertisements, or integrations.

3. Content, Guides, Calculators, and Tools

The site publishes news, guides, explainers, calculators, and other tools for general informational and educational purposes. We work to provide useful information, but laws, rates, forms, government processes, fees, exchange rates, tax thresholds, fuel prices, benefit rules, and third-party terms can change quickly.

  • Calculators are estimates. Salary, tax, NHT, NIS, GCT, import duty, stamp duty, remittance, fuel, currency, driving practice, and other tool results are estimates or educational outputs unless expressly stated otherwise.
  • Verify before acting. Before making financial, tax, legal, immigration, housing, employment, travel, medical, or other high-stakes decisions, verify current information with the relevant agency, institution, provider, or licensed professional.
  • No professional advice. The site does not provide legal, tax, accounting, investment, lending, insurance, medical, immigration, employment, or other professional advice.
  • No government affiliation. OurJa is independent and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any Jamaican, U.S., or other government agency unless a page clearly states otherwise.

4. No Direct Government or Professional Service Transactions

Unless a page clearly states otherwise, OurJa does not process government applications, issue permits, file tax returns, provide official eligibility decisions, sell insurance, provide loans, send remittances, or complete transactions with government agencies or financial providers. We may link to third-party sites where those services can be requested, but those transactions are between you and the third party.

If we later offer paid products, subscriptions, downloads, memberships, consulting, sponsored placements, or other paid services, the checkout page or written agreement for that service will state the applicable price, refund terms, cancellation terms, and additional conditions.

5. News, Editorial Content, Corrections, and Attribution

We aim to publish accurate, useful, and fairly attributed content. Some articles may summarize public records, government releases, official sources, or reporting from other publications. Source links and attribution may be included where practical.

News and informational content may become outdated. We may update, correct, remove, redirect, archive, or revise content without notice. If you believe something is inaccurate, contact us with the page URL and a clear explanation.

Our editorial standards are described in our Editorial Policy.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the site to:

  • Break any law, regulation, court order, contract, intellectual property right, privacy right, or security requirement.
  • Submit false, misleading, harmful, defamatory, obscene, abusive, discriminatory, infringing, or unlawful content.
  • Attempt to access admin areas, accounts, systems, databases, APIs, source code, or non-public features without authorization.
  • Scrape, crawl, copy, harvest, index, or extract content or data at a scale that burdens the site or violates these Terms.
  • Introduce malware, spam, phishing, credential harvesting, automated abuse, denial-of-service traffic, or other harmful code.
  • Reverse engineer, bypass, disable, or interfere with security, rate limits, access controls, ads, measurement, or consent tools.
  • Use the site or its outputs to make automated decisions about people without appropriate legal authority, review, and safeguards.
  • Misrepresent your affiliation with us, impersonate another person, or falsely imply endorsement by us or any government agency.

7. User Submissions, Emails, and Uploaded Material

If you send us messages, corrections, suggestions, feedback, files, images, article ideas, or other material, you represent that you have the right to submit it and that it does not violate the rights of others. You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, edit, publish, display, store, and distribute that material as needed to operate, improve, protect, and promote the site, respond to you, and provide services.

Do not submit confidential, privileged, sensitive, or regulated information unless we specifically request it through a secure channel. Public forms and ordinary email are not appropriate for sending passport numbers, TRN numbers, bank details, passwords, private medical details, or other sensitive information.

8. Admin Access, Sessions, and Security

The public site does not require visitors to create an account. Protected admin features are for authorized users only. If you receive or create credentials for any protected area, you must keep them confidential, use strong authentication practices, and notify us promptly if you believe credentials or sessions have been compromised.

We may suspend, block, revoke, rate-limit, or investigate access if we suspect unauthorized use, abuse, fraud, scraping, security risk, policy violations, or unlawful activity.

9. Advertising, Sponsorships, Affiliate Links, and Monetization

The site may display ads from ad networks, programmatic advertising platforms, affiliate platforms, sponsors, direct advertisers, referral partners, or other monetization services. Ads may be personalized, contextual, restricted, or non-personalized depending on your settings, location, consent choices, platform rules, and applicable law.

  • Advertisements, sponsored links, affiliate links, paid placements, and third-party offers are provided by third parties unless clearly stated otherwise.
  • We aim to label sponsored or paid content clearly where a disclosure is needed to avoid confusion.
  • We do not endorse every product, service, claim, price, promotion, advertiser, lender, insurer, app, or offer shown through automated ad systems.
  • You must not click ads artificially, encourage others to click ads, use bots or automated tools on ads, or interfere with ad measurement.
  • Third-party advertisers and ad platforms may have their own terms, privacy policies, eligibility requirements, and dispute processes.
  • We may earn revenue from ads, sponsorships, affiliate links, or referrals, and this support helps keep site content and tools available.

Advertising and cookie practices are described in our Privacy Policy.

10. Privacy, Cookies, Consent, and Electronic Communications

Our Privacy Policy explains how information may be collected, used, disclosed, and protected when you use the site. By using the site, subscribing, contacting us, or interacting with ads and tools, you agree that electronic communications may be used for site notices, subscription messages, security notices, legal notices, and other communications related to the services.

Where required by law, non-essential cookies, local storage, analytics, or advertising features may depend on consent choices or privacy settings. Some features may not work properly if cookies, scripts, local storage, or third-party services are blocked.

11. Third-Party Websites, Agencies, and Services

The site may link to government agencies, banks, remittance providers, transportation agencies, tax authorities, news organizations, social platforms, video platforms, advertisers, sponsors, and other third parties. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party websites, forms, fees, decisions, data practices, security, content, availability, products, or services.

If you apply for a government service, financial product, remittance service, job, travel document, loan, benefit, or other service through a third party, your relationship is with that third party, not with OurJa.

12. Intellectual Property

The site, including text, design, layouts, logos, graphics, software, code, compilations, calculators, databases, articles, and other materials, is owned by OurJa or its licensors and is protected by copyright, trademark, database, and other intellectual property laws.

You may access and use the site for personal, non-commercial, informational purposes. You may quote limited portions with clear attribution and a link back to the original page. You may not copy, republish, sell, sublicense, mass-download, scrape, frame, mirror, or create competing databases or tools from our content without written permission, except where allowed by law.

If you believe content on the site infringes your rights, contact info@ourja.info with enough information for us to identify the material and evaluate the claim.

13. Copyright, Trademark, and Takedown Requests

If you believe material on the site infringes your copyright, trademark, or other rights, send a notice to info@ourja.info with the URL, a description of the material, the rights you claim are infringed, your contact information, and a statement that your claim is made in good faith. We may remove or restrict access to content while reviewing a claim.

If your material was removed and you believe the removal was mistaken, you may send a response explaining why you believe you have the right to use the material. We may request additional information before restoring or permanently removing content.

14. Automated Features and AI-Assisted Content

Some site features or internal workflows may use automation or AI-assisted systems to draft, organize, classify, summarize, search, or improve content. Automated outputs may be incomplete, outdated, or wrong. We may review, edit, reject, remove, or correct automated content, but we do not guarantee that all automated or AI-assisted material will be error-free.

Do not rely on AI-assisted responses, summaries, or article drafts as professional advice or as the sole basis for important decisions.

15. Accessibility and Availability

We aim to make the site usable and understandable across modern devices and browsers, but we do not guarantee that every page, tool, file, image, ad, third-party widget, or archived item will be available or accessible at all times. If you have trouble accessing content, contact us and include the page URL, device, browser, and a description of the issue.

16. Disclaimers

To the maximum extent permitted by law, the site and all content, tools, results, advertisements, links, and services are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, statutory, or otherwise.

We do not warrant that the site will be uninterrupted, secure, accurate, complete, current, compatible with every device, free of errors, free of malware, or available at all times. We do not warrant that any tool result, article, rate, price, eligibility estimate, ad, third-party offer, or source link will meet your needs or produce a particular outcome.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain disclaimers. In those jurisdictions, disclaimers apply only to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, OurJa, its owners, operators, contributors, contractors, service providers, licensors, and partners will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, punitive, or enhanced damages, or for lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, loss of goodwill, business interruption, inaccurate tool results, reliance on content, third-party acts, ad-related issues, or inability to use the site.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim related to the site will not exceed the greater of the amount you paid directly to us for the specific service giving rise to the claim in the three months before the event, or USD $100.

18. Indemnity

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmlessOurJa, its owners, operators, contributors, contractors, licensors, service providers, and partners from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising from your use of the site, your violation of these Terms, your submissions, your violation of law, or your infringement of any rights of another person or entity.

19. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of Jamaica, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory consumer protection or privacy laws in your place of residence require otherwise.

Before filing a formal claim, you agree to contact us and attempt to resolve the dispute informally. Send a written notice to info@ourja.info describing the issue, the relief requested, and your contact information. We will try to respond within a reasonable time.

For users located in the United States, and only to the extent permitted by applicable law, any dispute that cannot be resolved informally may be resolved by binding individual arbitration rather than in court, except that either party may bring qualifying claims in small claims court or seek injunctive relief for unauthorized use, security abuse, or intellectual property misuse. Class actions, class arbitrations, private attorney general actions, and representative proceedings are waived to the maximum extent permitted by law. You may opt out of this arbitration provision by emailing us within 30 days after first accepting these Terms.

If any dispute provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue to apply to the maximum extent permitted by law.

20. Events Outside Our Control

We are not responsible for delays, failures, outages, data loss, interruptions, or inability to perform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including internet failures, hosting provider outages, cyberattacks, power issues, natural disasters, government actions, labor disputes, war, public health emergencies, platform policy changes, third-party API failures, or failures by advertisers, analytics providers, payment processors, email providers, or other service providers.

21. Compliance With Law

You are responsible for complying with laws that apply to your use of the site. You may not use the site in violation of sanctions, export control laws, anti-corruption laws, consumer protection laws, privacy laws, advertising rules, intellectual property laws, or any other applicable legal requirement.

22. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access to all or part of the site at any time if we believe you violated these Terms, created risk, used the site unlawfully, interfered with site operations, abused ads or systems, or harmed another person or entity. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive, including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute terms.

23. General Legal Terms

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any page-specific notices, form the agreement between you and us regarding the site. If any provision is unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign your rights or obligations under these Terms without our written consent. We may assign these Terms as part of a merger, acquisition, asset sale, reorganization, or transfer of operations.
