OurJa — Jamaica's Digital Hub

Trust and Standards

How OurJa publishes information

OurJa covers practical Jamaican information: public services, money, housing, work, news, and everyday decisions. The standard is simple: clear, useful, attributed, and checked.

Guides and Explainers

OurJa guides are written to explain Jamaican systems in plain English. We prioritise official sources: TAJ, NHT, NIS, PICA, BOJ, Jamaica Customs Agency, the Companies Office of Jamaica, and relevant ministries. When a guide uses reporting from another publication as a starting point, the guide must add original context and link to the source.

News Attribution

OurJa news reports may reference public statements, official releases, and reporting from established newsrooms. When another newsroom is the source of a fact, OurJa attributes that publication instead of presenting it as original reporting.

Tools and Calculators

OurJa calculators are planning tools. We use official rates where possible, show the assumptions clearly, and include source links. Results are estimates and should not replace legal, tax, immigration, financial, or professional advice.

Corrections

If a rate, policy, source, or explanation is wrong or outdated, OurJa updates the page as soon as practical. Important pages include a reviewed or verified date so readers can judge freshness. To report an error, use the contact link on the About page.

Important disclaimer

OurJa provides general information only. Nothing on the site is legal, tax, financial, immigration, medical, or professional advice. Confirm high-stakes decisions with the relevant Jamaican agency or a qualified professional.
